A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the identical stature as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the onset of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a long and happy life free from concern.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The trend became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently made “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to open the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: joyful, varied, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Each year, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
