Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his future following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the team's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got significant support from management,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win obviously but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase of this nature with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
