The English squad will embark on their UEFA Euro 2028 adventure at the the home of Manchester City, assuming they achieve the expected qualification for a tournament taking place in the majority of the UK and the Ireland.

Manchester City’s home ground has not welcomed an Three Lions match since eight years ago, when the visitors were overcome 2-1 in a exhibition match, but is expected to stage the national team for their inaugural game on Saturday 10 June 2028.

England are planned to play their concluding group fixtures at Wembley Stadium, but, in the event of winning their group, their round of 16 match would occur at the Newcastle stadium. Placing second would mean beginning the playoffs at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Tournament Kickoff and Rally

The event was unveiled at an gathering in a London landmark on the previous evening. High-ranking officials from the tournament organizers and the host FAs were barracked as they arrived the location by approximately 50 pro-Palestine demonstrators, who demanded Israel’s national side to be expelled from the sport because of the Gaza crisis.

Banners were held up with slogans reading “Show Israel the red card” and “You are complicit”, while protesters chanted: “Kick Israel out.”

Tournament Schedule

The first match of Euro 2028 will be staged at the the national stadium of Wales in Cardiff, on a Friday in June 2028, a match that will include Wales if they secure a place.

Wembley will host both semi-finals and the final, which will be staged on a Sunday in July 2028 with a kick-off time at 5:00 PM.

It is hoped that an afternoon start, which will also be used for European club finals from the following campaign, will attract family audiences and help connect with a wider spectrum of viewers.

Participating Countries

The Republic of Ireland are scheduled to play their initial fixture at the Aviva Stadium and the Tartan Army would play similarly at Glasgow’s Hampden Park.

All four host countries’ teams will participate in the qualifying tournament; two reserved places will be set aside for any that do not reach the tournament through that route.

Venues and Playoffs

Villa Park and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium complete the event’s nine venues. Every stadium will hold at least one knockout match, with the quarter-finals staged at every host’s main arena.

The qualifying draw will be held in Belfast, which was removed as a host city last year when it emerged the proposed venue could not be redeveloped in time, on a date in late 2026.

“The event will be a tournament for the followers and a festival of everything we value about the game – its fervor and power to foster unity.”

More than three million tickets, a record for a Euro tournament, are expected to be released to attendees.
